It’s not even 9:00 AM, you have earned $2,732.86 dollars already from your amateur blogging experience. Below is a picture of my dashboard of another of many money-making amateur blog posts I have on this page.

Best part? You just made money while enjoying yourself, and this is the real passive income people sell dreams about. The difference is this is not a dream, and I’m not selling you anything. 

The only difference is its not a dream, but it takes real work. But no worries, I will teach you how to do it in 3 to 6 months if you put in the effort. 

Building your online presence is not hard. I recommend several ways of starting building your digital you: From Digital Business Cards, NFC Cards or starting a podcast in Social Media. However, but the most effective and impactful way of creating your digital presence as a person or company on 2022 is by Amateur Blogging.

You too can harness the power of amateur Blogging as I did! Even if you are not a professional. If you have the right mentality, you can get real money and quit your nine-to-5 job if you like. It does not matter that you just started and are a beginner blogger.

According to Ahrefs, more than 77% of google users read blogs. To put you into perspective there are about 2 trillion global searches per year, 77% percent of that is a lot of people and potential readers for your blog.

This is my experience! After years of a corporate job and being a manager for 7+ years, I was happy with my job. However, I wanted more of life! For this reason, I became an amateur blogger to test luck and found a treasure I think needs to be shared.

This one is easy! If you have never blogged before, did not study writing, and see this as something you would like to explore as a hobby.

You are an amateur blogger. However, before we continue, I want to clarify you can potentially make a high income from this endeavor as many amateur bloggers do.

Why do you want to make an amateur blog?

There are many reasons why people start blogging.

Some write for the love of writing, others want to build a personal brand, and some just want to make money. In this century, it is essential to have an online presence. It does not matter if you are a company or an individual.

Blogging can fulfill many purposes, such as:

• To build a personal brand
• Showcase your talent
• Get a job
• Meet new friends
• And much more

The reason I started amateur blogging was very simple. I wanted to make enough money to quit my 9-to-5 job. And I am happy to say that after years of hard work, I was able to do just that.

I started my blog to share my knowledge and help others build their online presence. I’ve blogged for around a year, and it has been a fantastic journey. I’ve been able to interact with awesome content creators.

It was a painful but insightful experience to start blogging! Coming from a successful career in Project Management, I was not used to not having control. I remember my first post. I spent hours writing great content, and when I felt satisfied, I hit publish!

I went right away to google to find out I was on page one. Guess what? I was not even indexed, meaning I was nowhere to be found on google. 

After I saw my lack of SEO knowledge, I started specializing in Online Business Presence and content creation and I started ranking on search engines. 

I went lurking down the rabbit hole, researched a lot, and came out with a victory! I’m nI’minviting you to get into the remarkable journey of amateur Blogging along with my amateur bloggers friends.

How can beginner amateur bloggers start blogging?

If you are here, I’m assuming you are interested in starting an amateur blog but don’t know how to get started; I’ll do my best to show you the main steps through the process. If you are a complete amateur, keep going; if you already have some notion of blogging, you can go to my how-to start a blog guide. 

Creating a blog is easy; you can use many platforms. The most popular platform for amateur bloggers and professional bloggers is WordPress.

There are two ways that you can use to create a blog. You can make it through WordPress.com or install the WordPress software on your web server. I recommend the former since it will be your property and give you a window to evolve your blog when necessary.

How to start a blog in easy steps 

Let’s go down to business and launch your amateur blogging career. Your first step to becoming an amateur blogger is to sit and follow these steps. 

1. Pick your blog name.

I’ll help you save many hours of thinking. Many amateur bloggers will tell you that you need to select your niche (what you want to blog about) before choosing the URL for your amateur blog. However, I recommend you make a website under your name or your company name, and you can choose a niche later on.

The beauty of this is that you will create a brand that can pivot on many industries. Amateur blogging is not easy. For this reason, you don’t want to trap yourself in a niche. For example, let’s say you what to start writing about kitchen gadgets, but later on, you want to write about sports! If you had a blog name about the kitchen, you wouldn’t be able to change your niche.

Four Extra blogging tips for your amateur blog name

• I recommend you get a domain name that is easy to recall
• Try to go with a .com or .co
• The domain name needs to be short (Statistics show that short URLs have more revisits)
• Do not use Hyphens or numbers

2. Pick Up a Niche for your blog.

When choosing a niche for your blog, there are a few things to consider. What are you passionate about? What do you have knowledge about that you could share with others? What is something you are interested in but don’t know much about?

Another thing to consider is what niche would be most profitable. There are a lot of blogs out there, so you want to choose a place that is not overly saturated. You also want to consider what people are willing to pay for information in your niche. You have found a good place if you provide valuable information that people are willing to pay for.

In order to find out if a niche is profitable, amateur bloggers can research online. Check out forums and Google AdSense to see if people are searching for information in your place. If they are, then there is a good chance that you can make money blogging about it.

However, do not choose a niche solely based on your passion or what you want to write! Remember, this will be your business, not your hobby, and ultimately you want to make money from it.

3.Choose a hosting provider

Get your website/blog online, and choose a host.

Now that you have a name for your blog and your niche is time to get it online. Here is a list of ways to do that:

There are thousands of hosting providers out there. From my experience, I will give you three options, One Great, one regular, and one free.

What is the best web hosting for a beginner?

Here you have two options, actually 3, but I don’t recommend the third one.

WPX

WPX is the best hosting out there at the moment for amateur bloggers, in my opinion. Easy to set up your website, and they have excellent customer service. I used to have Siteground, but WPX Speed and customer service are better and equally cheap, so I changed.

Why do I recommend WPX? 

• After Increasing my traffic, I had to increase power without sacrificing time load speeds; they were the best on my tests.
• Beautiful and easy-to-use dashboards and configuration boards. Everything is easy to find (Great for amateur bloggers)
• Hosts emails on the same server
• Magnificent security. Malware scanning and cleanup included 
• Excellent price for a premium service
• Fast and excellent customer service

Bluehost (Cheapest host for beginner blogger)

Bluehost is a hosting company that has been around since 2003. It is one of the largest web hosting companies in the world, and it hosts over 2 million websites. 

Bluehost offers many web hosting plans, including shared hosting, VPS hosting, and dedicated hosting. 

Bluehost provides a free domain name with each web hosting plan which can be convenient for amateur bloggers. 

It is one of the cheapest, however, if you are serious about amateur blogging from the go, I will go for WPX for better speed and customer service, but if you are testing to see how you do, Bluehost is a good starting point; you would need to migrate later on I had to.

Free

I want to tell you a few things to keep in mind regarding free hosting in your amateur blogging journey. First, free hosting is typically slower and less reliable than paid hosting.

I say this because free hosts make their money by placing ads on your site, and the more visitors you have, the more money they make.

As a result, free hosts often have fewer resources available to ensure that your site runs smoothly.

Additionally, free hosting is not always secure. Many free hosts do not offer SSL certificates, which means that your site is not encrypted and could be accessed by hackers and won’t rank well on Google SERP.

Finally, free hosts often do not provide customer support, so you may be alone if you experience problems with your site and as amateur bloggers we need all the help we can get.

I recommended from my experience that beginners avoid free hosting and instead invest in a paid host that will provide them with better performance and security. I started my amateur blogging experience with free hosting, which was a horrible experience; I hope this saves you some time.

However, I want you to know there is an option for free hosting and even free domain on amateur Blogging.

4. How do I get started with WordPress and Bluehost?

To guide you, I will do the example with Bluehost since it includes a free domain! I used free hosting, Siteground, and WPX, and I stuck with WPX. 

BlueHost is one of the most popular options at an affordable price in the amateur blogging industry, so I will do an example to guide you with them too. If you can pay the best from the start, go for WPX.

Here is how to set up your amateur blog for the lowest price (Not Free)

• Choose a plan. I recommend checking the Plus Plan. However, For just $2.95/month. Bluehost is perfect for new websites or blog owners. It gives you everything you need to get started, including a free domain name, a free SSL certificate, and an easy-to-use control panel. Plus, it has 24/7/365 US-based customer support. Suppose you’re looking for more power and flexibility; Bluehost next$5.95/month. It has unlimited storage, bandwidth, email accounts, a free SSL certificate, and enhanced security features. 

• Select Plus plan or choice plus are the ones I recommend for amateur blogging because they are the ones I have used, the Basic plan was not enough for my needs, and I liked those plans because they even come with the ability to change your domain name if necessary.

• Write your domain name (In my case, misaias.com).

• Fill out the account information.

• For the package you want, choose an account plan considering how long you want. I recommend the longest is possible for the savings, and I know you want to do this long term

• You need nothing extra; uncheck all the extras. If you have any doubts, you can write them in the comments.

• Complete your purchase, choose your password and log in to Bluehost.
• Skip Onboarding questions, and click blog” when” it pops.
• Don’t choose a theme. I’ll give you better options later on.
• From the Bluehost dashboard, click the WordPress button on the top right, and WordPress will come right up.

5.Pick a theme

When choosing a theme for your amateur blogging experience, you have many options. You can find free themes online or purchase a premium theme.

Free themes are a great start, but they may not be as customizable as premium themes. If you decide to use work with a free theme, be sure to research its quality before downloading it.

You may consider purchasing a premium theme if you want more flexibility and customization options. Premium themes offer more features and are often updated more frequently than free themes.

When choosing a theme for your blog, be sure to consider your content and audience. Themes that have a design meant for businesses should not be used for personal blogs and vice versa.

Kadence Theme: is one of the most fantastic WordPress themes in the market. It has incredible support, features, and designs that will take your blog to the next level. Kadence is a paid theme, but you can get a starter version here, definitely a good choice for amateur blogs

Thrive Themes: This is a regular WordPress theme. It is not as great as Kadence, but it offers what you need to start your blog and is way more affordable and can be great for amateur blogging.

GeneratePress: This is a free WordPress theme that I recommend if you are on a budget. It is lighting fast and has a great design.

Generate Press Also has a premium version that is a lot faster and pretty flexible. However, when I used it, I discovered it is a bit more technical, so it might not be great for amateur blogging. 

However, they have an excellent support forum where the founder and its employees answer every doubt. That is pretty sweet. 

6. Install your Theme

Here’s how to install a WordPress theme:

1. Log in to your WordPress site.

2. In the left-hand column, click on Appearance > Themes.

3. Click on the Add New button at the top of the page.

4. In the Search Themes field, type in the name of the theme you want to install.

5. Click on the Install button next to the theme you want to install.

6. After the theme has been installed, click on the Activate link to activate it.

Another way to do it is to go directly to the website of the theme you want! After you get your license, download the zip file. 

1. In your WordPress site, go to Appearance > Themes.

2. Click the Add New button.

3. Click the Upload Theme button.

4. Click the Choose File button and select the theme zip file you downloaded.

5. Click the Install Now button.

6. After the theme is installed, click the Activate link to activate it.

7.Word press Plugins

Plugins are software that extends the functionality of WordPress. There are plugins for just about anything you can think of, from adding social media buttons to your site to creating a gallery of your photos to protecting your site from spam comments.

Go to the Plugins menu in your WordPress admin area to find and install plugins. The Plugins screen will show you a list of all the plugins installed on your site and a search field where you can search for specific plugins.

To install a plugin, click the “Install Now” button next to the plugin’s name. After you install a plugin, click “Activate Plugin” to enable it.

Elementor is a plugin that I use for all my blog posts and pages. It allows me to create beautiful-looking pages and posts without learning to code quickly.

Yoast SEO: This plugin optimizes your blog posts for SEO. It is pretty straightforward; it has many features that help you optimize your page and online resources without direct intervention. 

WP Rocket: WP Rocket is a plugin that can help your website run faster. by optimizing images, deleting unnecessary codes, and structuring your site.

Akismet: Akismet is a security plugin that helps you to protect your blog from spam comments. As amateur bloggers, sometimes we forget that we need to protect ourselves from potential attacks on the web.

Jetpack: This plugin provides many features for WordPress sites, including social media integration, security, backup, and more.

Google Analytics for WordPress (Site Kit): This plugin allows you to collect data about your website traffic and activity. The best part is that google made it to be used entirely free; download it and install it right now. 

Jetpack: This plugin provides a wealth of features, including social media integration, security, and performance enhancements.

Gravity Forms: This plugin allows you to create forms and surveys for your blog.

Easy Table: This plugin allows you to create beautiful tables and charts for your blog posts. I currently use it in all my posts.

These are just some of the best WordPress plugins you can install on your amateur blogs. There are many other great plugins, so be sure to explore and find the ones that work best for you and your blog.

8. Create your minimum viable website and your first blog post

Now we start creating! I know it might be overwhelming as an amateur blogger. However, I’ll make it easy for you! You just need basic pages to be successful at blogging. 

As an amateur blogger, you only need a minimum viable product or MVP website, as we call project management.

Further on in your blogging career, you can worry about more complex pages. After a lot of trial and error and wasted time, I will show you the pages I selected as the most important pages. I did this in all my amateur blogs (I have 3), so you don’t have to. 

These are the main pages:

• Home Page: This is the first page visitors will see when they visit your site. It should give a brief overview of your site and what visitors can expect to find on your site. About Page: The about page is a chance for you to tell visitors more about yourself, your site, and what you have to offer. Contact Page:

• About Page: The about page is a chance to share more information about the site, the goals, and what readers can expect. The about page is also an excellent place to include contact information. In my case, my amateur blogging about page is just a summary of my experience as a Project Manager.

• Blog Archive page: The blog archive page is a page that displays all of your blog posts in reverse chronological order. The blog page is the page visitors will land on when they click on one of your links. Your blog archive page should be simple and just an extensive repository of all your articles. Nowadays, there are trends to structure your Blog archive by niche or sub-niche, but honestly, you dont need to worry about this for a while. Content writing is better than content planned.

•  Single Blog Post Page: This page displays a single blog post. Visitors will land on this page when they click on a link to a specific content. Most of your traffic would come from single blog posts, Be sure to write often but with good quality. 
• Terms and conditions page: The terms and conditions page is where you set the rules for visitors to your site. The terms and conditions page could include not allowing spammy or abusive comments or requiring visitors to sign up for a newsletter before accessing certain content.
• Privacy Policy Page: The privacy policy page is where you tell visitors what information you collect about them, how you use that information, and what your rights are to their privacy. The privacy policy page is essential for any sites or amateur blogs that collect user data.

• Contact Page: The contact page is where potential clients can contact you when necessary. It should include your contact information and a form for visitors. Start publishing content. In my case, I offer help and consulting services here. 

4. Start writing your first WordPress blog article!

Now that you have a theme and installed WordPress, it’s time to start writing blog posts.

To start writing a new article login to your WordPress dashboard and click on the “Post” tab” From here, you can either add a new post or edit an existing post.

When writing a new article, you will be given the option to choose a title and format for your post. You can add images, videos, and other media to your post.

Take care of your headings. Also, remember to add images and write a meta description.

Tip: Do not over-plan your content!!! Just dont. Everything you write can be edited or deleted later on, so dont feel pressured to write a perfect blog post before publishing. Overthinking is the bigger enemy of amateur bloggers. 

Once you are satisfied with your article, click on Publish.

You can also use tools like Google’s Keyword Planner to find relevant keywords and track how well they’re performing.

Finally, you can also optimize your blog posts for social media. Optimizing contemplates using attractive images, sharing posts on multiple platforms, and using relevant hashtags. By optimizing your posts for social media, you can reach a larger audience and drive more traffic to your blog.

15 Amateur Blogging mistakes and how you can avoid them

When it comes to Blogs, there are a lot of things that you can do wrong. Here I list some of the common amateur blogging mistakes that people make when starting a blog, and how to avoid them are

1. Not having clear goals: One of the biggest amateur blogging mistakes is not having clear goals when starting your blog journey. If you don’t have clear goals, it is difficult to know what you are trying to achieve with your blog, and it is difficult to measure your success.
2. Not creating a content plan: Another mistake people make is not creating a content plan. A content plan helps you to organize your thoughts and allows you to stay on track.
3. Not taking the time to create quality content: A common mistake among bloggers is not taking the time to create quality content. Quality content is vital to attract readers and keep them coming back for more.

• Guest Posting: Write a guest post for a successful blogger in your niche and include a link to your blog in the article’s body or bio. However, dont get links just for the sake of it! It would help if you were sure that the blog post you write is relevant, on your niche, and that you post it on an accurate site, not a spammy one, regarding guest posting quality over quantity. 
• Broken Link Building: Find websites in your niche with broken links (links that go nowhere when you click them) and offer to replace the broken link with a link to your blog. This strategy might be a little bit more complex for amateur blogging. However, you must be aware of this strategy; you might want to try it after a few months.
• Resource Page Links: Reach out to popular websites in your niche and ask to be featured on their resource page.
• Infographic Links: Create an infographic and reach out to popular blogs in your niche; this might attract links from websites that use your infographic as a source. There are tools and services you can take advantage of, such as Fivver or Upwork, to hire freelancers that can help you do your infographics 

Note: You can get two types of backlinks for your blog: Do Follow links and No Follow links.

• Do Follow links are the most beneficial, as they pass SEO juice to your blog and add you to rank higher in google or other search engine results pages. Gaining more authority, or DR, as Ahref calls it
